The prices were quite expensive, even knowing the economy has this across the board. However, in all the walking around we did, we saw no markdowns or sales in this main store. The parking lots are massive and so there is a lot of driving looking for spots, and then walking. And when you get finished here, there’s the outlet store and the bike, boat and ski store before you move onto all the other outlet stores from other brands with everything from chocolate to sunglasses and everything else u dear the sun, or the clouds depending on when you visit.Įxpectedly, the place is HUGE with multiple stores/shops.one for skiing, one for hunting, one for home, and the flagship store. I spent a couple of hours here and I’m not a big shopper so that says a lot about the quantity and variety of things here. The people that work at the store appear to be very knowledgeable and were uniformly friendly and helpful. That CBD is “Coffee By Design” so don’t get your hopes up too much though the other CBD is available legally elsewhere. Aside from the expected clothing and footwear, there is a large section with rifles and shotguns, a large archery section and sections with camping gear, tents, things for pets, a small restaurant, and even a CBD coffee shop. And the store is well organized and clean with a couple of items of interest like a trout tank and a large aquarium with various kinds of salmon and trout in it. While I still visit LL Bean for personal and practical gifts, the old thrill of shopping there is but a memory. That means that the boots that put LL Bean on the map a century ago are now no longer worth its founder’s original guarantee. With the ending of its lifetime product guarantee, LL Bean has lost its edge. Even the choice of styles and colors of such attire has declined precipitously in recent years. Quality and durability of shirts and sweaters and hiking boots and raingear aren’t what they once were. Leading-edge products for outdoor adventures engage one’s attention and create longing to be outdoors. ![]() Memorials revere the founder’s wisdom with words and images. Displays of a taxidermist’s art fill a stairwell niche. Inside staff eagerly guide patrons to whatever they seek. The iconic big boot still guards the main building’s front entrance. Paved paths lead from one building to another. At the northeast side lot is a multiport electric car charging center. Its themed buildings share a central campus with massive amounts of parking nearby. But no trip to Maine is really complete with a visit to Bean in Freeport, even if you don't buy anything it's worth seeing and taking that picture outside by the Big Boot.Īs the epicenter for the area’s outlet stores, and a flagship in its own right, LL Bean has lost little of its luster since my last visit. I understand there is an "outlet store" in Freeport proper too, but we did not visit so I cannot comment on it's contents of value. If you are hunting for Bean discounts the Outlet Store in Ellsworth (near Acadia NP, albeit 2 hours north) may be what you seek. Now, given the high quality and outstanding level of customer service that goes with that price that doesn't bother a lot of folks (me included), but each of the stores has a sale section where you can indeed find bargain priced items, which is good actually for those at either end of the "standard sizing" charts because the small and large sizes seem to show up in the Sale Sections in greater numbers than the average ones (naturally). ![]() The complex is large and vast, the stores are staffed by friendly and helpful employees, and if you are looking for a specific item you will find it in your color, size, shape and/or unique length as long as you are willing to pay the full Bean price.
